Sound from start to finish

Audio Direction is the process of overseeing every aspect of sound on a project - from the first draft of a script script through final delivery. Audiography partners with you across pre-production, production, and post to make sure your project sounds as good as it looks

Pre-Production

For even the most seasoned content creators, audio can feel like a mystery. An Audio Director helps translate the needs of the aural experience into clear, practical choices on the page and on set.

From the script stage, we identify potential problem areas, create efficiencies, and streamline the workflow so you can meet the budget while raising the overall quality.

Production

Authentic, well-recorded production sound is irreplaceable, and losing a great performance to a bad capture is always a setback.

On set, audio should be as much of a priority as picture, and having an experienced set of earsin the room is the only way to truly know what you are getting.

Post

It is all in the finish. From editorial through mix, sound can transform the viewing experience with music, sound effects, and thoughtful dialog treatment.

Whether the deliverable is stereo or Dolby Atmos, your Audio Director will see the project through to the end and deliver the best possible version of your story.

Case Studies

Every Instrument Ever Made

Every Instrument Ever Made is an ongoing mini‑documentary series that explores the craft of recording and the inner workings of musical instruments in a professional studio environment, highlighting how thoughtful audio direction shapes each session from concept through capture. The first video features drummer Kevin March of Guided By Voices, recorded at Magic Door Recording , and uses the session to illustrate how planning, mic choices, and studio workflow all contribute to the final sound.

Live at Magic Door

Audiography collaborated with Magic Door Recording Studio in Montclair, NJ to develop and execute a live music video series showcasing artist Brian Dunne. The team handled planning, on-set audio direction, recording, and post-production sound, delivering a set of live performance videos that met both creative and technical expectations of the artist.

Spotify SXSW

For Spotify’s SXSW activation, we were responsible for capturing, mixing, and delivering performances from 50 artists across two stages. All sets were multi-tracked and mixed in the studio for use on the Spotify platform and in promotional video content, with workflows designed to meet tight schedules and budget parameters

Big Green Bus

Audiography contributed audio direction and technical planning for a mobile, battery-powered recording setup designed to achieve studio-quality music capture in a non-traditional environment. The project involved selecting appropriate equipment, developing a capture strategy, and delivering a mix that aligned with the visual concept, while incorporating sponsored and emerging gear solutions to stay within budget.

Under Cover

For the podcast Under Cover, Audiography was engaged by Spotify to help shape the sonic approach to a series built around artists performing cover songs. With access to multitrack recordings, the team supported interview recording, underscore, sound design, and song breakdowns, helping producers establish a compelling, character-driven format for launch.
