They say, “It’s how you finish” that counts.

FAQs

Can you supervise audio post?

Yes! Because we are familiar with all aspects of the audio post-production process, we are able to build teams, budget, and schedule the edit and mix for your film, tv show or podcast.

What about music?

Most of our team’s background is actually in music, so whether you need editing, mixing, tracking, or even composing, we can handle that. Our credits often don’t show how involved we’ve been with music for many past projects.

What does a dialog edit involve?

It may seem like edit is already done coming from offline. However, we know how to bring clarity, depth and precision to the dialog track in a way that’s not possible only within Media Composer or Premiere.

If available, we return to the original production field recordings and build an assembly with those multi-track files. Then we thoroughly sort through every channel to ensure only what’s intended is heard. During this process, we’re often able to “save” important takes from being re-recorded in ADR, and dig out previously unheard lines for more flexibility in the mix.

Where do you mix?

Founder, Paul Vitolins has a 7.1.4 Atmos “micro-dubstage” built in the basement of his home. Fondly referred to as The Grotto, the space comfortably fits 2-3 clients for mix reviews, spotting, and even Voiceover recording.

In that space, Paul has been able to record Foley, compose music, and edit/mix for all digital formats. The playback system is comprised of a Grace m908 monitoring controller, Dynaudio Core7 LCR speakers, and JBL surrounds/sub.

What is Sound Design?

It was Walter Murch who first coined the term in his credit for Apocalypse Now. Since then, the term is used to assign credit to a sound editor who contributes to a film in a uniquely creative way. Similar to how a composer writes a score that could only befit this particular narrative, a sound designer creates audio elements that transcend the obvious needs like footsteps, background traffic and doorknobs.

We’re really good at doorknobs, of course, but we can also design moments where you’ll find yourself saying, “I didn’t even think of that.”

Are there any tax incentives?

Since our company is based in Montclair, there are applicable New Jersey State tax incentives for post-production. You can visit www.njeda.gov/film for more information.
